This song is about getting to know yourself better, and hoping that you will keep caring for yourself well, even when you are so enthralled with someone else. The song concludes with the lines “please don’t tell me I’m pretty and you love me,” a cry against the objectification of women, and a hope to be loved deeply and fully, rather than at the surface.
