"Tour From Hell" (Single)

Released May 26, 2023

When Kelly McMichael’s Waves album was released in May of 2021, Exclaim Magazine gave the record an 8/10. Alex Hudson of Exclaim said that “McMichael and her co-producer Jake Nicoll have created a lush-sounding debut that weaves together several decades’ worth of sounds into a seamless pop-rock tapestry. It all feels familiar, yet it’s so timeless that it never seems dated.”

The album saw McMichael make the Polaris Prize Shortlist in 2022, win two 2021 MusicNL awards for Rock Artist and Solo Artist of the Year, and a 2022 East Coast Music Award for Rock Album of the Year.

“Tour From Hell ” is the newest single from McMichael, and details a tour that truly was from hell: multiple bandmates catching COVID-19, their longtime tour van breaking down multiple times and needing extensive repairs, cancellations, postponements. Shit really hit the fan.

The track was written for a CBC feature called “The Story and the Song” and was premiered on April 8, 2023 as part of that feature on radio and digitally: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/community/the-story-and-the-song-emerging-1.6797131

The reception for the track was excellent, so we’re looking to release it officially now via DSPs!

Kelly McMichael is known for her commanding stage presence, striking voice and compelling songwriting. She has a fierce and versatile ability for musical expression as a multi-instrumentalist and vocal chameleon. The new single is McMichael’s first release since signing to LHM Records earlier this year.
