"Adding Up feat. Yohvn Blvck" (Single)

Released May 13, 2022

waants’ 2021 debut EP saw him spend 11 weeks on the CBC Music Top 20 chart with “Keep Careful feat. Sorrey,” earn multiple Music Nova Scotia award nominations, and official playlist adds on Spotify and Apple Music.

Now, the Halifax based producer and artist is set to release a follow up project in the fall of 2022 featuring some of the most exciting emerging Atlantic Canadian hip hop and pop artists like Yohvn Blvck, Kye Clayton, and Keeper E.

“Adding Up feat. Yohvn Blvck” is an upbeat, braggadocious hip hop track written from the perspective of an MC on the come up chasing the bag, and never satisfied despite his improving financial situation. Says producer and writer waants of the track:

This song is another big brag, while being both aspirational, and also somehow a critique of end stage capitalism. You have a rapper who is living in their mom’s basement talking about taking over the scene and all their money adding up while the hook cries “The only way to count it all, the only way to count at all.”

Yohvn is rapping about success as if it’s already happened, or inevitable. He’s the main character in an odyssey and ready to decapitate everyone in his way. But it’s a pandemic, he’s suffering, we’re all maybe drinking too much or whatever and how do you make your life mean anything anyway?

“Adding Up feat. Yohvn Blvck” is out May 13, 2022 and is available via LHM Records.
